Concussion Assessment & Management
If you have suffered a concussion it is important to have it managed by a health care professional. A thorough examination is required to determine the severity of your symptoms and cognitive deficits. A progressive return to work or play protocol will ensure a safe and timely return to activity.
I use a variety of manual therapy techniques including Spinal Manipulative Therapy (SMT), joint mobilization, and soft tissue therapy. While these therapies are not recommended to be used as a sole treatment for most conditions, they can be a helpful option to help reduce pain, when used in conjunction with exercise, appropriate education and self-management strategies.
Other passive treatment modalities may be used to help decrease your pain when dealing with acute symptoms, and increase your ability to move, exercise and recover. these may include Vibration, Electrotherapy (IFC or TENS) or dry needling.
Spinal Decompression Therapy
Therapeutic Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical, traction-based treatment for spinal pain. Application of the computerized traction head with individualized programmed patterns of distraction and relaxation helps reduce pain symptoms, and can be another helpful tool to encourage more physical activity.
